Peter Drösser

Background

Throughout its history, Peter Drösser GmbH was known for its broad product range, including various sheet metal processing services and steel and metal construction, operating from the old location in Cologne as well as from the new factory in Engelskirchen. The company prided itself on delivering high-quality and precise products, such as metal facades, window frames, and industrial components, including both small series and larger quantities. Their services also encompassed welding and powder coating work. The company became insolvent and the insolvency administration together with the business owners had to decide to close down the company and sell all of its business assets.

Equipment highlights

The factories consisted among other things of a big range of Trumpf machinery (e.g. Trumpf TruLaser, Trumpf TruArc, Trumpf TruBend), Q-Fin deburring machines, a Stopa automated warehouse system, rolling stock (e.g. trucks and trailers) and a Noppel powder coating line.

Transaction

During the summer, PIPM conducted multiple visits to the two Peter Drösser factories as part of an ongoing evaluation process. In August, PIPM reached a definitive agreement to acquire all movable assets from the facilities. The insolvency administration had been seeking a reliable and proactive project management company capable of taking over the movable assets and stock at market value while ensuring the complete clearance of the properties within a short timeframe. PIPM met these requirements by purchasing all assets and stock in a single transaction, strictly adhering to the conditions and deadlines set by the insolvency administration. Additionally, PIPM negotiated agreements with various leasing companies involved in the process and successfully acquired their assets as well, further streamlining the transition.

Procedure

PIPM leveraged its extensive international buyer network, advanced remarketing tools tailored to this sector, and a strong network of dismantling and global transport partners to successfully sell all assets within a short period. Most of the assets were sold privately to parties in France, Romania, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia and even to Canada including a transport by sea (see photo with wooden crates).

Result

The extensive Peter Drösser project was successfully completed at the beginning of February, with the properties delivered on time and to the full satisfaction of the landlord. The entire project was executed efficiently, meeting all requirements within just six months.
