Vitelco Leather
Background
The well-known calfskin tannery Vitelco Leather B.V., formerly operating as Koninklijke Hulshof’s Verenigde Fabrieken, was located in Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands. The company had a long-standing reputation in the international leather industry for producing high-quality calf leather.
Following the decision to fully close the production facility and the sale of the site to the municipality, for future residential development, a complete tannery installation became available. In such situations, PIPM supports companies in realizing value from their assets while enabling other manufacturers to benefit from proven industrial equipment.
Closures and bankruptcy situations, when managed properly, create opportunities within the market by making high-quality machinery accessible for reuse in other production environments.
Equipment highlights
The tannery was equipped with a full range of modern machinery from leading European manufacturers, including:
OLCINA and VALLERO drums, HÜNI drum automation, CM sammying setting-out machine, ALPE SPAK SUPREMA lime splitting machine, PERSICO fleshing machine, CARTIGLIANO six-table vacuum dryer, BAUCE through-feed setting-out machine, FLAMAR shaving machines, KRAUSSE hydraulic press, BERGI ironing and embossing machines and GEMATA roller coating machines.
Additional assets included compressors, stainless steel silo’s, forklifts, a complete pre-ETP installation and a 2024 MEA chimney system for beamhouse environment degassing, along with various other tannery related equipment.
Transaction
PIPM purchased all movable assets, incl. machinery and all tannery equipment and managed the remarketing and sales to a wide international audience (with buyers from India, Pakistan, South Africa, Portugal, Switzerland and many more).
By actively connecting supply and demand in the global market, we ensured that valuable industrial equipment is transferred to companies that can continue production with these assets. For buyers, this represents an efficient way to expand or modernize operations using reliable machinery from an established European tannery.
Procedure
PIPM executed a structured disposal process, including complete inventory, international marketing and coordination of dismantling and logistics.
Thanks to its extensive international network, we successfully introduced the equipment to a wide range of potential buyers within the leather industry.
Result
The project demonstrates how PIPM creates value in situations of closure by facilitating the reuse of high-quality industrial assets.
The redistribution of the machinery enables other manufacturers to strengthen their operations, while ensuring that valuable equipment from the Vitelco Hulshof tannery continues to be used within the global leather industry.
